from the Programs sub-menu.
Step 2:
On the left side of the My Computer window, find the
Other Places section and click on the My Network Places
link.

Then click on the Next button at the bottom of the window.

Step 6:
In the Getting Ready window, select the Set up my connection manually option.

Then click on the Next button at the bottom of the window.

Step 7:
In the Internet Connection window, select the Connect using a dial-up modem option.

Then click on the Next button at the bottom of the window.

Step 8:
In the Connection Name window, type the name you want to call this connection into the designated box. (Hint: You might want to call it NSCEE.)

Then click on the Next button at the bottom of the window.

Step 9:
In the Phone Number to Dial window, type the phone number of the NSCEE modem bank, which is 895-4154, in the indicated box.

Then click on the Next button at the bottom of the window.

Step 10:
In the Internet Account Information window, type your login name (This printed at the top of your copy of the User Agreement you signed and received from NSCEE.) into the User name: box.

Next, type your password (This is also printed on your User Agreement.) into the Password: box, and again type it into the Confirm Password: box. Be sure to type the password exactly as shown, and since it is case sensitive, use the same case (upper case & lower case letters) shown on your User Agreement.

Next, NSCEE highly recommends that you enable the option Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this connection. This will help protect your computer from being attacked by hackers.

Then click on the Next button at the bottom of the window.

Step 11:
Congratulations! You have finished configuring your NSCEE dial-up account.

Click on the Finished button at the bottom of the window.

Step 12:
How to Begin using the Internet

In the Network Connections window, find the icon with the name you entered back in step #8. Double click on that icon, and the Connect window will appear. You should see the user name you entered in step #10 and the phone number for NSCEE's modem bank.

If you don't see these things, then an error has occurred in your configuration. You may repeat steps 1-11 to try creating a new connection with the correct setting. Or you can contact NSCEE for technical support.

If you do see these settings in the Connect window, then just click on the Dial button and wait for your computer to tell you it completed dialing and connecting to the NSCEE system. Then you may start you web browser and begin surfing the Internet.
